The silver basin, wide and shallow, stands upon a pedestal carved in the form
of a branching tree. The basin itself is polished and smooth without any
adornments. It rests calmly in the arms of the carved tree.

It's full of a clear liquid.

Galadriel says 'Do not move and do not touch the water!'

You climb up on the foot of the pedestal and lean over the basin.
The water is still. In it, the reflections of stars are motionless.
As the stars slowly disappear, the water becomes black and silent.
Suddenly the darkness clears, and you see...
A large plain, Anfauglith, covered by the bodies of Elves and Men.
Columns of smoke rising towards the sky.
Shadows of fire, the Valarauko, chasing fleeing remnants of the elven armies.
Glaurung the Golden, father of dragons, crying in victory, standing above the fallen Elves, fire roaring from his m
outh.
Hordes of Orcs overwhelming the last defences of the Noldorin kingdoms.
A tall Elf, strong and brave, clad in shining armour, cries in fury.
Despair and anger, pain and defeat overwhelming, he mounts his horse.
Alone, unstoppable, glorious and insane, he rides as a wind through the dust.
Coming to a halt at the large bronze gates, he raises his horn.
The shrill note of challenge reverberates through the halls!
Thunder from below! The earth trembles! Slowly...
Despair! The challenge is accepted!
Towering high above the brightly shining Elf, the Lord of Darkness arrives.
Clad in black iron, his black unmarked shield, his shadow as a storm cloud.
The hammer! Rising! Falling with the speed of lightning!
A slight shimmer runs across the surface of the silver basin.
Swiftly the Elf jumps aside, drawing his sword, glittering like ice!
Raising his blue shield, his armour bright as a shining star.
The hammer rises...the Elf leaps aside!
Large columns of smoke erupt as Grond cracks the earth.
Seven times! Seven times, the hammer falls!
Seven times! Seven times, the Elf darts away like lightning!
Seven times! Seven times, the black shadow screams in pain!
Anguish! Pain! Despair! He is tired! He falls! The shining Elf stumbles...
Forced down by the onslaught, the Lord of the Elves falls to his knees.
As Anar rises above the eastern horizon, the sky is lit by a fiery glow.
As Tilion begins his descent, the light of Isil diminishes behind the horizon.
Three times! Three times he falls!
Three times! Three times he raises his broken shield!
Three times! Three times he stands tall and proud!
But the ground...the earth betrays him! He stumbles, falls!
The dark one! Morgoth, Lord of the Darkness! The treacherous Vala!
A foot, large and heavy as a mountain! He stands heavy on the Elf!
With his final breath! His last strength! The brilliant sword darts!
A wound erupts! Blood gushing, filling the holes of the ground.
A cry! In pain! In victory! Of death!
The fire in his eyes dwindles and dies... his breath comes to an end.
His sword, Ringil, falls to the ground, as his spirit flees his body.
Thus died Fingolfin, the high lord of the Noldor, the greatest and bravest.
A slight shimmer runs across the surface of the silver basin.
The noblest of all the elven kings.
The water goes black... and suddenly stars shine on its surface again.
The vision fades, and you find that you are looking at the cool stars twinkling in the silver basin.
