If it can be done, ANY mob in the game becomes a routine after a while. This really cannot be avoided. I've never done balrog myself and i'm sure at least the first few times will be interesting. Yet almost all other smobs are routine already because i've done em a zillion times. If you make it harder (impossible to do safely even by arch-puke-group) then it will be totally impossible for lesser people who aren't level 50+. That would kinda suck in my opinion thought since most people don't have time to level their chars to that high level. But it would be fun if some 'clue' was required for players (the whole group) to do balrog safely. For example if he whipped people out of room to random location in the area (not just next room) it would be harder to come back and rejoin the fight.

Well the problem with Rogge is not the fact that he is doable, the prob is that he loads to often, if the load chance just would be lowered then it would not matter that he is doable. And the fact is that Rogge is the only mob in MUME that takes 10+ people to do, and that alone makes him cool.

I don't know what your problem is. What is wrong with newbies having shining? The problem is not to make shining less often, the point is more new areas should open with new eq to explore.
Balrog is NOT an ordinary SMOB that is done every day. You know how long I need to play before we have a darkie group that can kill it? Usually, not all cz can help and I need to be 8 hours online before we have 2 sancers and enough trolls and orcs to do it. Last time went fast, in this log but the time before when we did 2 orcs out of the 8 mobdied to it. Just before we did that rogge pukes posted a log where 5 out of 7 mobdied, so what is your point whiner Thror? Still 1 out of 3 balrogs go BAD, with 1 or 2 mobdeaths.

I do agree 100% with Feagil my first Balrog all our group mobdied my first GC my heart pounded too, my first breeraid as troll was exciting as hell etc etc. Don't make the mobs harder then you NEED TO BE lvl 50+ to do anything fun. I still think lvl 26 should be enough.

And only ones dying to balrog are either orcs or lowlevel trolls since hilevel trolls have NO RISK doing balrog. Btw, good idea could be to make more equ corruptable and antievil/neutral. For example shining. This will solve a lot of problems with extra equ in mud. It works pretty well with crowns/circlets.

I posted log some time before, that was about to give trolls +10 ob unarmed and make then unable to wear magic (magic-flag) eq. But some 'clever' ainu desided that only giving 10+ob will solve all :( Yeah they removed DT mendmob but it solved shit, because if u realy wanna get eq u get it anyway.

Dudes, when you say trolls are overpowered, you just make me want to laugh and cry at the same time. At the moment, trolls are the only race that don't get spells and can get realdeath. So I'd say we're ducking entitled to what's ours, some ob and hps (though little defense) in light of the aforementioned and next to no mobility compared to other races. Just you try to play a troll up to level 40 and successfully pk -without- being a wuss and only trapping, before you even think of opening your mouth on this subject, ever again.

Good question from Porien. It seems that the few who in the times past were 'haves' want to keep the many who were 'have nots' that way. In the words of Ambrose Bierce, 'The only thing the rich are willing to let the poor call theirs, and keep, is distance'. Well, I think that it is inevitable that if there is a way to acquire a certain piece of eq that is desirable, it is a logical outcome that all players will want to have said piece, and strive to obtain it. The only way you can keep eq from going (eventually) to all ppl in the game is by keeping its existence, or how to make it, a secret. Of course, having a cap on the number of items possible in the game at any given time works, too (like artifacts, or have maybe max 50 smelly hides or whatever). But if shining is such a bugger in yer arse, why not limit the number of dodgerings, or attackstaves or manaregenrings or circlets or whatever too? I mean, it's not as if shining is -the- all-powerful item in MUME. If the only thing you're concerned about is the fact that Balrog dies these days, I for one have to say I disagree. I think it's good that the harder mobs and areas in the game are visited by people and done on a regular basis. Else, why have them at all? For the few elites that visit the area once or twice every rl year to reeq? Bah to that, I say.
