Reminds me of when Dyver was exhausted at Trail Along the River during MUME 5 or 6.

He had no draughts, awful hp (I think it was 6), was exhausted (at that time you got moves by the tick only), had cold mana and had five whities hitting him. As warrior he also had 1 prac in word of recall and managed to parry or dodge all 5 whities while concentrating for the spell, before he finally safetly worded to noc. That is extreme luck.

Gray, no solo char kills another solo char of skill anymore outside of a lucky backstab or where the chars fight to the death. Once you realize that, all your other arguements comparing who is better is just pointless. Good players will kill average players with what they have at hand, as it's the player that makes the differance, not the char class.

Using Gray-logic/comment defence protocol --

1. You say out in OPEN you don't die unless you are clueless, not inside a closable with 1/few rooms.

2. Then you state that class matters where skill is useless. Well, I guess being clueless isn't another word for someone with poor skill. Therefore skill matters.

I'm not arguing that skill doesn't play a factor in fights, but even if you give a good player a less than uber character, he's still going to win more times than not. Skill in this game is the single largest factor to beating someone in MUME.

Not to be a whiner about link, but I'll whine about link. Playing a mage on 250-300ms link is a little pointless unless I group (which i dislike doing), where-as warrior, hit-flee, spam hit in bottleneck, chase-hit, flee-anti-approach-hit, guarantees me a higher kill ration because of instant damage. I'm not suggesting I have anywhere near the skill of Fingeror, Ostu, Snowy, etc, but on their link, I think I would find mage a much more fruitful class.
