I kind of like Depression personally, it prevents (ab)using the system where you can otherwise cast many spells with very low knowledge with no real risk.

Personally I think the negative effects of all backfired spells should be made considerably more dangerous (With the effect of a badly backfired high level spell like portal or sanctuary being potentially deadly), for all races - for BNs at least there is some real consequence...

It is interesting because in a thread I read on ER somewhere, most people were in favour of a compulsary mandos sleep or similar 'no-login' time penalty to stop from people being able to die and then re-join the battle to retrieve their eq.

Its rather annoying when you kill someone out west as a troll and before it is even night again they are back fighting you again (usually with an additional couple of cronies)

For the record I do think mandos sucks...

I'm not saying I think its good that just BN's have depression, I'm saying I like that there is consequences for backfiring a spell... I think that ALL races should have similar consequences for it... I mean really is it reasonable that you lose control of some wild and hugely powerful magic, and it does basically nothing to harm you ever? I just think that backfired spells in general should be a bad thing, and not a minor annoyance of having to recast the spell and a tiny bit of mana loss.

Because I have 1 fun char Dresden. And I won't make new ones, I play mume for the thrill of pking. For me, I hate play other chars then 1 or maybe 2 of them.

I could take 30 mins mandos sleep or something, if it's the looting part they want to stop me from, but rl days?!?! There is no logic in not be able in 3 real time days.
