1.Prologue — The Diner

The Riding Maiden's Inn
This wide, cosy tavern belongs to Temperance and is rumoured to serve the best
beer in Bree! The brown- and gold-themed room is covered with broad floor
planks and filled with oaken tables which come in two heights; customized to
fit the needs of the big and little folk of Bree. The far end of the room is
dominated by a long, smooth bar behind which stands a tall shelf, filled with
bottles of all sorts and a healthy assortment of pipe weed. A few paintings, a
roaring fireplace in the corner and the yellow thatched roof above complete the
Inn's interior decoration.
A busy innkeeper hustles around, running his inn.

mortal spirits are summoned here after their death yet the Halls never fill
since they expand with time. The cavern walls are clad with tapestries woven by
Vairė the Weaver which depict every event of the past and of the future. A bowl
containing a few drops of the pale dew of Telperion is the only light source.
The throne of Mandos can be seen in the largest cavern.

3.Vairr the Assassin and Nagrorh's Wife

The Chamber
The room is wide and circular, and its confines seem covered by a yellowish
mist. The ceiling is a huge dome carrying strange and detailed images in
golden and silver stones, whose meaning could only be found in nightmares.
The centre is a runic circle of powerful, arcane magic, where five pillars
burn with green fire that spreads coldness. The power contained here is so
tremendous that you can almost feel the ground shake under your foot. Your
will is fainting, and the grip on your weapon gets weaker every moment. To
the south you see a door with the most weird runes on its surface.
Mr. Nagrorh the Abomination is looking at you with flaming red eyes.

4.Prelude to "The Twisted Root"

Wooden Farmhouse
The farmhouse has been split into two parts. One part is filled with crates
full of carrots, potatoes and other vegetables. Next to them, a neat collection
of various gardening tools has been arranged on the back wall. The other part
of the house, separated partly by a wall and partly by curtains, contains a
stove, with a kettle on it, and other furniture usually found in small homes.

cards themselves are ripped and bent and several look about to tear apart. The
dealer's pit is arranged in such a way that he looks to stands taller than his
actual height giving him an even more imposing presence than he already
possesses. A few low hanging torches on the stone walls provide just enough
illumination to see one's hand. The stench of spirits and the unwashed fill the
air. A well-worn chest secured under a large and practically immobile boulder
contains today's house winnings.

wood and are decorated with hunting trophies of long forgotten creatures.
Three long tables and plenty of wooden chairs cover the floor of the inn.
A huge lantern hanging from the ceiling throws a flickering light all
around the room. While you are surveying the room, the rough voice of
the innkeeper startles you: "What do you want, kid?"
A suspicious Innkeeper watches you carefully as you enter, wondering whether to give you a room.

Midgewater Marshes
The frequent stretches of deep mud and black ponds make it impossible to
travel in a given direction with any certainty.  On all sides the marshes
reign unchallenged, providing a home to ravenous hordes of biting and stinging
insects, who in turn sustain a huge population of frogs and other less
familiar predators.

Secret Trail
This cleverly concealed trail has been marked with pieces of dark cloth tied
among the bushes at regular intervals. It weaves its way among the fens,
heading generally east and west.  The path would be almost impossible to spot
if one did not know exactly where to look.

Winding amongst the fens, this tortuous trail skilfully takes advantage
of the exposed land to lead generally east and west. Small pieces of dark
cloth tied at regular intervals to bushes mark its course, but it would

Hidden Islet
This earthen mound rises a few feet above the level of the surrounding
marsh. It is completely surrounded by a wall of impenetrable reeds - the
only exit from the islet appears to be the trail leading west. A small
shanty has been erected on the eastern portion of the islet.

Beneath the Floorboards
This room has been hollowed out of the earth, and its walls are simply
the damp soil. The place smells as if animals have been kept penned in
here, further evidenced by the dung on the floor.  Some old rags have been
piled in one corner, and in the other corner is an old chest.

explains why a lot of the equipment in here has been severely water damaged.

Prison Cell
This is where the prisoners of the current occupants of the castle are kept.
A small deep hole is over in one of the corners, with an pungent odour drifting
up from it. A small cot lies on one of the walls with little left of it. The
mattress is torn and scattered about the room. The only way out of this room
is back west, through the iron bars, which though crude, are sturdy.

The Riding Maiden's Inn
This wide, cosy tavern belongs to Temperance and is rumoured to serve the best
beer in Bree! The brown- and gold-themed room is covered with broad floor
planks and filled with oaken tables which come in two heights; customized to
fit the needs of the big and little folk of Bree. The far end of the room is
dominated by a long, smooth bar behind which stands a tall shelf, filled with
bottles of all sorts and a healthy assortment of pipe weed. A few paintings, a
roaring fireplace in the corner and the yellow thatched roof above complete the
Inn's interior decoration.
A busy innkeeper hustles around, running his inn.
Vairr the Assassin (Vincent), wielding a double edged eket, is standing here (hidden).
