What is a fair fight for a power character like that? How could anyone actually kill it? In ghostly captain its 1 vs 5....and he killed them all. So 1 vs 5 is not fair...for the 5. So how can you be angry that a character like that has a target on him. When you are #1 warlord and have been for a while and are essentially unkillable why not expect a kill squad come after you.
I would say embrace the death. That was epic. Classy like Caesar, was his death lame? His death was overkill for sure with sameside knowledge/planning. To kill you it took a broken spell, luckily landed, cast by one of the weakest most fearful and wretched forms of life, and ganged up on by all the most wicked, and scheming players that happened to be on, and they had the chance to kill the #1 warlord. No better way for you to die than being over-killed. I don't understand people talking about fairfighting...again what is a fair fight for a character like that? 2 orc warriors? 3 orc warriors? 2 trolls? 3 bns? And even then, you would get away. How could anyone actually kill you?
What is the big loss??? surely not the XP? The eq? The gold? Cant you just solo all the smobs and and darkside players and get it all again?
Lame death kinda, but I think it reads nice, and makes a good story, especially considering character name etc. Nice charge. I like your style.

But I think Ruen has a point here. Mume PK is not a succession of one-on-one fair fights, it has never been. If there are huge groups on one side of the war raiding Arda back and fore, you can be sure that players get bored and start changing sides, thus turning the tide.

But if small groups of players or even a highly skilled single player dominate(s) the war, like you do, it provokes heavy handed retilation. Smaller beings start gathering and try to overwhelm by sheer force of number.

Every single one of them conceded inferiority to you, by joining this execution. Every single one of them conceded defeat.

Take this with pride, and do not leave us behind.

I have no idea who Tyson is and he/she apparently has no idea who i am either. What “crying” am I always doing? Anyone who knows me knows the two things I hate most about MUME are the “fair fight” nonsense and people expecting legend eq to be left in corpses after a fight. For me this game isn’t some elaborate joust game, it’s a war. I’ll kill an enemy any way I can (link issues are where I draw the line when I can but I’m slower than many of you and may not see it as quick as you do). I mean Ezmodius is a portal whore. That’s why he was made: portal trapping and back trapping. Personally one of the things I enjoy most in MUME is killing those that can’t be killed (well, trying to). Often times that requires things that offend some of your sensibilities.

As for Arvedui, I have absolutely nothing against you. I even played a bit with on whitie side. You helped me and I provided what help a player like me can provide a player like you (meat shield for smobbing and not great at that either). But this time we were on opposite sides. You killed me right before this, knocking me off my first and only appearance on warlords (thanks to you I got “Grey’ed”). You were especially nice and left most of my stuff, much more than I would have expected. But when I heard you had been slept near by I jumped at the chance to get revenge, get my picks back, kill the number one warlord and someone who somehow never dies. And we left nearly everything as far as I know. Mainly just taking back what was taken from me.

I feel like a lot of unnecessary stress is being created because many of you try to impose things on this game that this game just is not. This game is what you see in this log, not what ever it is you have in your head and the sooner you accept that the sooner you can get beyond rage quits and bitterly hating people you’ve never even met. Do i think sleep is broken? Yes obviously as there is no sensible defense against it (I don’t consider instantly fleeing at the sign of any enemy a sensible requirement even if some people like to play that way ;)). But it’s in the game so it will be used. And no, I would not remotely be “above” using it. I don’t think I have it pracced on any char but, believe me, that’s only due to how I prioritize pracs and has nothing to do with chivalry. If you don’t like what you see at end of this log don’t cry to me: I’ll do this again tonight if it plays out that way. Listen to p Elestir and ask management to change it or even get rid of it. You can try to have the game be closer to what you want but don’t expect players to follow imaginary rules.

And finally, at least some of you talking so holy in this thread are complete hypocrites: you’d do this to e.g. p Elestir without hesitation and you know it. Some of you have told me you’d same side or even LD kill him given the chance.

Arvedui - come back soon, hopefully you just need a little break. Honestly, we left nearly everything so re-eq shouldn't be a problem. I would be more then happy with this death. I am sure you will gain your exp back fast (probably mostly on my orcs). Does suck to die this way though I guess. Just know, the BN who sleeped you - made it clear your eq was not to be looted by anyone. It has not gone unnoticed that you yourself only loot whats needed.

Sleep is miserable, though Ruen and Singleton are also correct here, I think. When Arvedui walks with 2 eagles and stores and unknown amounts of scrolls and rocks and kicks ass for weeks, people aren't going to try to calibrate a precise 'fair fight team', they're just going to come kill you because you're too damn dangerous to the entire side.

It is a big of a shame though, after all the deaths you've dealt out and sets that have been lost that way (me included!), that you decide to quit after taking one yourself. You don't have to justify it though, so see ya when I see ya.

The moment they notice there is shit like that here, they will know this is not a game for them. Only some of us invested so much time, that we still stay around, and even then resort to group pk exclusively because of features like these.

And yes, I got some kills like this too, and will continue taking advantage of it, as if others can do it against me, I am also going to use against them. 100% agree. Blind lasts, what, 1.5 ticks and I can prac remove blind. Sleep lasts way longer and has no possible counter as a solo player.

I'm by no means defending sleep as a spell, but as Sarkazein, with +2 attack, I failed 4x thoro sleeps on the trolls that follow Bulag.

There's literally a snowball's chance in Hell that I can successfully sleep a power puke such as Arvedui, which is why I didn't even consider that as an option.

If they nerf sleep, that pretty much shuts Moria out for me unless I find a large group. So, nerfing sleep because in the past forever two well-known players died from it would cause a significant problem.

Plus, getting slept is not a guaranteed death, because I got slept as Sark 3 or 4 times, and max wimpy saved me.

It's truly unfortunate this happened, but it is what it is.

Retiring was sad, though, especially because you got all of your eq back, are still the number one warlord, and it sets a bad example. If I retired a char every time it died lamely, I'd have nothing left.

There is no need to nerf it in a away to make it useless for mobs. Simply make it require two sleeps to sleep ppl being eff vs mental would be enough, as every player can get a necklace or old chain and after eating first sleep, he will know he has to be careful.

And BNs can sleep quite well. Just few days ago Elceser slept Zant and another Zaug warrior in row, without a fail. And Zant has 15 WIL and eff vs mental and is higher level than Elceser. It's simply too random, and can work vs any1.

I’m less concerned about sleep vs players (it sucks and not much you can do to defend against it) and more concerned about things like people who purposely sleep trolls in sun rooms. And there are people playing right now who try that.

My thoughts are that sleep has two issues. One: it either hits or it doesn't and you have no defense except simply leaving/chancing RNG, and two: once someone is slept, the only real way to capitalize on it is wizkill (you can't keep fighting normally without negating the sleep). Blind avoids both these problems: while blind landing is RNG, you can cure it/communicate to cure it, and you can continue to fight a blind person without simply removing the blind.

A solution (in my mind) would have to address both of these elements. For example, leave it as it is for mobs and make it land consistently on players but hit like a tick of arachnia (attacking moves, applying sleep if they're too low).

Bw charge on the other hand show a char with a plan vs disorganized, probably low from mob, group of orcs. I see a few ways in which darkies win; first one that comes to mind is just 2 blinds and then spamming him down wouldve done the trick, heck he wasted most of his storeds on a single target.

About the sleep bash death... It is painfull, like a stab when you lag, or getting ping ponged in slag couse your link, or overkilled or any other sucky death. But its the game mechanics. And I wouldnt change it.

just _one_ long post to respond to all the above comments that may have been directed my way:

pleeease dont lump me with the 'fairfighting' crowd. these above players have tried to overkill me numerous times over the last few weeks and i have complained.. one or two times over yell? i just kept trying to kill them the best as i could regarldess of numbers. and i still left most of their eq. whatever.

on the other hand, these same players going around Arda with stored sleeps (which is broken) to hunt me is just another level of hypocrisy, hence..the warning. Especially from Sarkazein (Who btw kept complaining about my charmies and wanting a 'fairfight' until at one point, I slept my charmies, let his orc poison AND stab me. and I still killed him. and yes, he still called Smulk and Ghushugh for backup and no, i didn't complain then either).

anddd ftr, i am NOT a power puke. i was lvl 34 at the bw fight.

I use sleep alot in xp and sometimes in pk. And I've been slept plenty of times as a 170 hp bn. You almost never die with Max wimpy set.. I'm shocked so many spells landed there without los.. space etc. It's really not an easy way to wizkill somone.
